After a full year of revealing and defending LDS gospel principles and defining their differences with other religious points of view, my virtual mission at blogstream has ended. My gospel-driven life leads me in other directions, finally returning to my patient wife and the manuscript of a book for which this blog has provided an impetus.
I have shared true gospel principles in the blogs of the worldly wise, the professional Protestant Clergy and in this blog as a simple man. I repeat the words of Paul concerning a gospel that as yet in his day had not been contaminated...
"[He] sent me ... to preach [teach] the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect. For the preaching [and I insert teaching] of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. Where is the wise? [I insert they are not here anymore] where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? Hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe." (1 Cor. 1:17-21.)
There is worldly teaching and there is gospel teaching. There is teaching by the power of the intellect alone, and there is teaching by the power of the intellect when quickened and enlightened by the power of the Holy Spirit.
"O that cunning plan of the evil one! [Jacob is speaking] O the vainness, and the frailties, and the foolishness of men! When they are learned they think they are wise, and they hearken not unto the counsel of God, for they set it aside, supposing they know of themselves, wherefore, their wisdom is foolishness and it profiteth them not. And they shall perish. But to be learned is good if they hearken unto the counsels of God." (2 Ne. 9:28-29.)
This blog will not be deactivated. It will continue to serve for a time as a resource for topical searches for the serious and courageous Christian. Stealth will continue to update this blog periodically in order to keep it alive. He may return.
My ability to reply to continued queries will diminish as meaningful comments dwindle. My email address will no longer be available through this blog because I do not want to imply by leaving it that I can continue to reply in a timely manner.

(If you haven't been with us through Myth # 14 with its comments please read it first)
The fanfare of previous graphics and its celebration ends here. The serious work of faithful self examimation begins for some of us. A genuine new birth will begin for some at the conclusion of this Myth. Are we like the wealthy man, who upon self examination turned his back to Christ. Or, are we able to accept what is logically possible and acknowledge the true God revealed in the Bible.
Myth #15 The Triune God Exists and is omnipotent
My premise is that the Triune God is a logically impossible idea and His power within His creation is that of a chiseled idol.
We have reached concurrence that the logically impossible is not truly a "thing". This represents a serious philosophical problem for triune believers who believe God to be three distinctive essences in one individual. This is clearly a paradox. Does this mean that the triune God is not truly a thing? If the Orthodox wish to use their vaunted logic consistently, if a logical impossibility is not a thing, if it is something that cannot exist at all, then it follows the triune God does not exist.
As I had alluded to at the conclusion of my comments in Myth #14, the entire Greek concept that Orthodoxy has depended upon for their definition of God was turned upside down in 1905 when the University of Zurich physicist Albert Einstein derived a simple equation that demonstrates conclusively the equivalence of matter and energy. What was philosophically important about this discovery was not its consistency with Stoic monism, but the ratio of that equivalence.
The formula is e=mc2 (Please excuse my inability in writing the exponent correctly; I do not have Microsoft Exponent installed). It states that if M units of mass could be made to disappear, the units of energy that would be liberated would be M times the speed of light squared! In actual numbers, using the speed of light in a vacuum [2.99793x10(10) centimeters per second], this means that it would require nearly 900 quintillion (9000,000,000,000,000,000,000) units of energy to be equivalent to just one unit of mass!
The theological implications of that ratio have NEVER been considered by triune believers. What it means is the ancient Greeks had their hierarchy of materials in the order exactly the opposite of what exists in the real universe. A being composed of Matter contains, by nature 900 quintillion times more energy(i.e., power) than would a being composed of pure energy.
Thus, the hierarchy of materials conceived by the ancient Greeks, when viewed from the perspective of energy or omnipotence, is exactly the opposite of that which exists in the universe created by God. In His universe, matter is at the high end of the scale. In fact, Einstein’s simple formula suggests that a corporeal God would represent, by nature, a concentration of energy of 900 quintillion times greater than an incorporeal God.
Triune believers might argue that concentration of energy in a corporeal God is irrelevant to any theological discussion of His omnipotence. But, if God is real, and the Bible treats Him as though He were, His omnipotence would require the ability to exercise real power, and real power requires energy.
They may also argue (at the exclusion of Thomisticguy) that, since their idea of an incorporeal God is one who fills the universe, there is no need for God to be corporeal – infinite size being more than an adequate compensation for lack of energy density. Rational consideration of that argument leads, however that an incorporeal entity who is attenuated throughout the universe would simply be weaker everywhere than a corporeal being who would instantaneously travel to any spot of the universe He chose. This would make for one peculiar God previously unimagined.
Under any logical scenario, the nature of matter, as demonstrated by Einstein, will always make corporeality a much superior medium in which to exercise omnipotence than any medium that is incorporeal. This is especially so in light of the fact that the ratio of corporeality to incorporeality could be as much as 900 quintillion to one. The point is that it is entirely logical and consistent to teach that the corporeal God described in the Bible is omnipotent. I have already demonstrated in Myth #14 that the incorporeal God is logically impossible.
Triune believers, with their cousins of eastern religions, scoff at the notion that a corporeal God is logically possible. Logic now dictates that if you don’t believe in a God that fills the immensity of space but is otherwise is in need of power, you need to believe in the corporeal God of the Bible.
So now, without fanfare or celebration, logic dictates that we briefly mourn the death of a bad idea that was not based upon truth.
Postscript on Comments before turning them off. Comments here persist off topic and have as of this addendum mutated into a scientific discussion of density as meriting Godliness. Texture My Words
Myth #14 Logic and Reason can Create a Triune God that exists Rather, their God is not at all. Thomisticguy, the self ascribed spokesman for true Christianity on Blogstream and a closet Catholic, verbalizes a a form of omnipotence for God that is just all wrong. For the classical theist, his God can do anything that is (1) logically possible, and (2) consistent with being a personal, incorporeal, omniscient, omomnipresent, immutable, wholly perfect, and necessary Creator. There is some degree of disagreement with the LDS position here, but it is a fairly accurate expression of LDS doctrine. Alma 7:8 in the Book of Mormon states "The Lord God has the power to do all things which are according to his word. Thus, for Thomisticguy and other classical theists, God cannot do or create what is logically impossible. The Bible never really makes this broad a statement. However, Numbers 23:19 teaches that He "cannot lie." that such an act would be impossible for Him. So, there are some things He cannot do. This is not because He lacks the power to do them. It is because they are inconsistent with His nature and position as God. We see this point clearly with Augustine in his City of God which needs no discussion here. Jesus first tells us how difficult it is for a rich man to become Christian... it would be easier that he pass through the eye of a sewing needle. This would be an impossible task but perhaps not a logically impossible task. Then Jesus reveals in the next verse: "With men this is impossible, but if they will forsake all things for my sake, with God whatsoever things I speak are possible." The implication is that God can do all that He says he will do. In like manner, we have an angel who came to Mary before the conception of Christ. Mary questioned the possibility of remaining a virgin conceiving the Son of God. (Luke 1:34). The angel assures her and in verse 37 states "For nothing will be impossible with God." If so, if there is nothing impossible to God - yet the logically impossible is something Thomisticguy believes He cannot do, then the logically impossible is not truly a thing. While the LDS can agree with this statement, Thomisticguy cannot because the three separate persons they say is numerically one individual is INDEED a logical impossibility. Does this mean that the Trinity is not truly a thing, (being logically impossible)? Where Aquinas and Thomisticguy created this scenerio, they have worked themselves into another corner. Because IF the triune God is a logical impossibility and is as a consequence not a thing, it cannot exist. The fact of the matter is God cannot be a logic impossibility where He, rather they together, exist. This argument is not presented either facetiously or disrespectfully. Thom and those before him simply need to apply the same good LOGIC and REASONING to their position on the triune nature of God as they do to other aspects of their beliefs. If they would do so, the fallacies of their theology would be stripped away. | | Posted by Stealth at 11:46 PM -

Love My Words
Myth #13: We are Not Infidels (Ones without Faith) While My Guitar Gently Weeps (adapted)
I look at you all see the love there that's sleeping
While my guitar gently weeps
I look at the fields and I see they need reaping
Still my guitar gently weeps
I know that Jefferson told you
How to unfold your love
I know what controls you
Having bought, he now sold you.
I look at the world and I notice it's burning
While my guitar gently weeps
With every mistake there has always been warning
Still my guitar gently weeps
I don't know why you failed when tested
You’ll be divested soon.
A bit more effort, you’d be converted
I’ve been alerting you.
I look at you all see the love there that’s sleeping
While my guitar gently weeps
Look at you all…
Still my guitar gently weeps.

Glitter My Words Myth #12: True ministers are well trained in the wisdom and skills of the world. Thom (Dummies) confirms boldly that his ability in using philosophy, common sense, and a knowledge of contemporary culture, is a gift from God to him. He is certain that through these attributes is found the approved manner of crystallizing Godly truths and teaching them most accurately. Not so.
True ministers speak by the power of the spirit and not the wisdom of the world. When Jesus sought out His disciples and when God chose His Prophets of old, a table was not set up at the local seminary, nor was a roster of the Pharisees requested. We have no doctrines of our own to preach. There is no way any of us can create a plan of salvation that will save and exalt. Salvation and the doctrines of the gospel come from God. They are his. He reveals them to us by the power of the Holy Ghost. Then when we present them to the world, “we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth.” (1 Corinthians 2:13.) The Apostle Paul illustrated that meaning in his first letter to the Corinthians: "And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. . . . And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: that your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God." (1 Cor. 2:1, 4-5.) How had he learned this? "God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit," Paul explained.
Where so many of the Orthodoxy mistakenly take there lead from Paul, let his words properly be heard: "Beware lest there be one who will lead you captive through philosophy and the vain deceit according to the tradition of men, according to the rudiments of the world and not according to Christ" (Colossians 2:8). True ministers always speak by the spirit of inspiration. Because they have the gift of the Holy Ghost, they can “speak with the tongues of angels” (2 Nephi 31:13) and angels “speak by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore, they speak the world of Christ.” (2 Nephi 32:3). Jesus counsels his ministers, “Take no thought how or what ye shall speak; for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father, which speaketh in you.” Matthew 10:19-20 And also “Neither take you thought beforehand what ye shall say; but treasure up in your minds continually the words of life, and it shall be given you in the very hour that portion that shall be meted unto every man,” D&C 84:85 False ministers, on the other hand – those ministering in “churches which are built up, and not unto the Lord” – those who teach the doctrines of men and not of the Lord – “they shall contend one with another, and they shall teach with their learning, and deny the Holy Ghost, which giveth utterance.” 2 Nephi 28: 3-4. Doctrines created in heaven never seem to find a comfortable resting place in theologies crafted by the wisdom of men.
Former President Ezra Taft Benson contrasted the two different approaches of the Lord's way and the world's way: "The Lord works from the inside out. The world works from the outside in. The world would take people out of the slums. Christ takes the slums out of people, and then they take themselves out of the slums. The world would mold men by changing their environment. Christ changes men, who then change their environment. The world would shape human behavior, but Christ can change human nature." (Ensign, November 1985, p. 6.) | | Posted by Stealth at 2:44 AM -
